On the Road Again.....


This weekend, we were very blessed to spend time with family in Missouri. Dan and I have really come to love our road trips together. Mostly our car rides are full of singing (lots of country and oldies and Reba..."She KNOWS it!") However, this trip brought along a little surprise. Around Chillicothe, we ran into a little flooding....okay a lot of flooding. We were traveling down the highway and, just as we saw cars slowing down, the radio host informed us that the exact highway we were traveling on was now down to one lane. We were just able to pass through before the flooding got worse, eventually closing the road---WHEWW! I was pretty excited and took pictures like a crazy tourist while Dan shook his head and laughed at his goofy wife.Leah graduated from Missouri University and Faith celebrated her 2nd birthday all in the same weekend! Here are some pictures of our fun time celebrating together.Here is Faith's best CHEEEEEEZZZZZ face! She was very excited to be 2!Here she is eating her yummy Strawberry Shortcake cake.....mmmmmm.....Here is Faithers and her new car! She kept running out of gas...it was hilarious!We also did a little shopping in Osage and Faith LOVED the fountain.

Dan and Al got to do some fishing and Dan impressed us with his HUGE catch! Dan was pretty excited to stock our freezer with MORE fish...mmmmmm.....I love fish..... :)

Well done.

There are so many thoughts I have as this school year comes to an end and I have been praying about the right words for all the feels, the frustrations, the relief, the continued anxiety, the pure exhaustion. So in honor of teacher appreciation week—here’s a short letter to all my fellow teachers that have persevered through an unprecedented time in education. ———————————— Dearest Teacher, Spray and wipe, wipe and spray. Defying gravity.

“Where I come from, everyone knows the best way to bring folks together is to give them a common enemy.”—Oz, Wicked the musical   Public education is slowly becoming the common enemy and it is suffocating.  If this seems far fetched from your understanding and perspective, make time to share a space with your friends in education. How are they feeling right now?  Since social media allows us to feel like we can have a personal connection with someone, here is what I would share over a cup coffee if we could be face to face. As someone who has committed over 18 years serving children and families in my wonderful community in a public school, I can assure you. Public schools are not the enemy.
